How to mix a vial
An illustrated preparation overview for syringes or reusable pens. Follow your exact product and device instructions.
Step 1 of 10
Check the product instructions
Confirm the product, compatible mixing liquid, volume and storage instructions. Wash your hands and prepare a clean surface. Use BAC water only if those instructions call for it—never household water.
- 1. Check the product instructions. Confirm the product, compatible mixing liquid, volume and storage instructions. Wash your hands and prepare a clean surface. Use BAC water only if those instructions call for it—never household water.
- 2. Check the mixing figures. Use the instructed final volume and your confirmed dose in the reconstitution calculator. If the exact result cannot be measured on your device, stop and check with a pharmacist. Do not change the volume just for an easy dial setting.
- 3. Clean the stoppers. Use fresh alcohol wipes on the vial stoppers and let them dry. Keep sterile equipment and needle tips uncontaminated.
- 4. Measure the specified mixing liquid. Use compatible sterile, single-use mixing equipment. Follow the product instructions for the volume and transfer method; do not guess based on the vial’s physical size.
- 5. Add the liquid as instructed. Follow the product-specific transfer instructions. Do not force a resistant plunger or improvise pressure-release needles. Stop if the vial or equipment is damaged.
- 6. Mix and inspect. Follow the product instructions for dissolving and appearance. Do not shake or heat unless specifically instructed. If particles, unexpected cloudiness or damage remain, do not use it; ask a pharmacist.
- 7. Label the vial. Record the concentration and actual mixing date. Add a use-by date only from product-specific instructions. Your checked calculation supplies label text; the saved protocol keeps its own label.
- 8. Check the dose before drawing. Use a new sterile needle and syringe for each dose. Check the exact concentration, U-100 markings and calculated amount against your confirmed plan. Follow the product’s drawing instructions.
- 9. Store as instructed. The mixed vial: follow its specified temperature, light protection and use-by date. BAC water does not establish peptide shelf life. Storage and shelf-life guide.
- 10. Dispose of needles safely. Do not reuse needles or place loose sharps in household rubbish. A purpose-made sharps container is an optional purchase, but safe disposal is required; follow local rules for suitable alternatives.
If you are filling a pen cartridge instead of drawing each dose
- Use a compatible cartridge. Only fill a cartridge designed for your exact reusable pen, using its specified sterile transfer method and fill limit. Never refill a disposable pen. Do not improvise a venting method from a generic illustration.
- Load and prime as instructed. Follow the exact pen’s loading, needle-fitting and priming instructions. Priming uses liquid and reduces available doses. Check the dose markings again; use a new compatible needle for each dose.
- Store as instructed. The filled cartridge and pen: follow its specified temperature, light protection and use-by date. BAC water does not establish peptide shelf life. Storage and shelf-life guide.
If something looks wrong
Unexpected appearance or damage? Do not use the vial. Check with a pharmacist rather than heating it, adding extra water or trying to fix it from appearance alone.
A setting is too small or falls between marks? Do not round or guess. Recheck the amount, final volume and device with a pharmacist.
